The path home after defeating the demon lord was as long as it was before, except the wounds sustained in the battle made the journey considerably slower and more difficult. Word of the demon lord's defeat arrived at the palace far ahead of the heroes.
When they finally returned they were surprised with a banquet in their honor.
(Of course, the palace staff had to make alterations to the knight's gown, like sleeves to hide new scars)
